The Hanger Bike Co. specializes in Road and MTB Bicycle Sales, Servicing and Coffee. We are located on the R44, on the way to the very popular Helderberg Trails and the surrounding Wannabees cycling routes.

We can’t wait to share our passion for cycling and create a hang out pre and post ride.

WHY THE HANGER BIKE CO?

The Derailleur HANGER is an integral part of the Bicycle. Jonty and Andrew’s father, Arno Neethling, played an integral part in the boys cycling careers and helped grow SA cycling as a sport. As an international commissaire, some of his most notable jobs included the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

Arno’s other love was flying – so the word HANGER, as in airplane HANGER, stuck with the boys and seemed a fitting way to honour their father who passed away in February 2017.

The Goal was to create a place where people could “HANG out” and share their passion for bikes.

And so “The Hanger Bike Co.” was born.

Jonty Neethling : The man with more talent on a bike than we will ever have… a former professional racer turned professional mechanic. An absolute wizard on the wrenches. Store Manager. You want honesty and to have someone tell you how it really is.. Jonty is your man.

Andrew Neethling : A professional racer on the international circuit for 14 years scoring wins and podiums on the World Cup Circuit in the sport of Downhill. Decided to hang up the racing boots, well those are his words. We say he is washed up and getting in the way of everyone in the store. He is now an Ambassador for Scott and Commentator at the Crankworx events.

Andre Avenant : Has been involved in the cycling industry from a young age, while riding league he worked for numerous cycle shops.
Many years later, he started riding MTB again to recover from a knee operation, and months later, he finished his first ABSA Cape Epic – this year (2019).
Wanting to get into the cycling industry again, he got involved in distribution of cycling products, and when he heard there was an opportunity to join the Hanger Family, he jumped at it.

Jason Campbell : Jason Campbell comes from a history of racing, and brings with him knowledge in numerous training fields.  He has shown a natural passion for cycling, the industry and the clients‘ needs. Jason hopes to grow and share this passion, so he is the perfect fit for Front of Shop.

Piet Brummer: So how do they call it? ‘A diamond in the rough’. He has been under the close supervision of Jonty and has really become a force to be reckoned with in the Workshop, showing skill far beyond his years. When he is not working on bikes, he is riding – before work, during lunch breaks, and after work.  His riding style is quite the opposite of his wrenching style, where he has an uncanny finesse with the tools. His love for bikes really is evident, and it shines through in his work, and with clients
